Pamukkale
Pamukkale (Cotton Castle) it’s one of the most incredible places created by nature, not only in Turkey but in the whole world. It’s unique shape was made by water flowing down the mountains slope. This thermal waters are rich in minerals, mainly calcium carbonate which is deposited, forming travertine. Since ancient times healing properties of these waters are well known. In Pamukkale also is an ancient city of Hierapolis. It was founded by Eumenes II, the King of Pergamum, in the second century BC. In ancient times city was a Spa, it was well known from it’s thermal waters. Hierapolis played an important role in spread of Christianity. Saint Philip founded there the first Christian community. After many earthquakes, today there are only ruins of few buildings, which are visited with a pleasure by many tourists. At Hierapolis there is located Antique Pool, which is called Cleopatra Pool. In swimming pool are ancient columns, mineral water has comfortable temperature of 35-36 degrees. When you are immersed in a water, your body is covered by air bubbles, what gives you a feeling of swimming in champagne. Pamukkale is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1988.
Lake Salda. This is one of the deepest and cleanest lakes in Turkey, it has a volcanic origin. Its depth is 185 meters, width 6.8 kilometers. The maximum depth of the reservoir located in the tectonic basin is 196 meters. Due to the white sandy beaches and clear water, the area of the lake began to be called "Turkish Maldives".
